Dr. Laura Ron is not technically a full-time staff member at Oak Forest Veterinary Hospital, but as a relief veterinarian that has covered shifts for us since 2018, she is considered one of the extended family.

After a childhood in the Cypress suburbs of Houston, she got her Bachelors of Science in Biology (Animal Science minor) from Texas A&M in 2011, graduating with multiple honors/awards (University Honors, Foundation Honors, Cum Laude, Student Research Week winner, etc).  She then went straight to Texas A&M’s veterinary medical school, graduating from there in 2015.  Oak Forest’s Dr. Beverly Crocker was one of her undergrad and vet school classmates!

Dr. Ron spent her first three years as a veterinarian working as full-time emergency/ICU at VERGI 24/7 in Houston, before opening her own business as a relief veterinarian in 2018.  She has been driving all over north and west Houston filling shifts for vet clinics ever since, enjoying the chance to meet/help people in many areas.

When Dr. Ron isn’t at work, she spends time with her fiance (will be husband as of summer 2023!), her Border Collie Bravo, and a wide network of family/friends.  She is an vocalist/musician (performing at churches and weddings for many years), ambitious home chef, lover of any kind of DIY project, and avid world traveler.  She dreams of one day owning a herd of herding dogs, inventing a dairy-free cheese that doesn’t taste like Styrofoam, and trying to leave the world a better place than she found it.
