What’s Better than A Puppy or Kitten?

As a convenient neighborhood pet hospital, our veterinarians are proud to be a leading provider of senior pet health care services. We want to be your veterinarian of choice that you bring your pet to — not just on day one — but throughout their long, happy, and healthy life, too.

Maintaining your pet's health, especially after a dog or cat’s seventh year of life, requires regular checkups. Each pet is different, and we handle matters on a case-by-case basis, but yearly physical exams, including blood work are standard practice at our animal hospital to help prevent pet disease.
Benefits of Senior Pet Health Care
Catch problems early
Prevent said problems from occurring in the first place
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
– Benjamin Franklin
Good Ol’ Ben understood the value of preventative care, a concept that can be applied when discussing both human and pet health. There is value to knowing your longtime loyal companion is getting optimal treatment. And there is value to that treatment since it is in many cases preventing more extreme and costly measures down the road.

Senior pet exams are recommended by the American Animal Hospital Association as part of routine pet health care. Our animal clinic’s exams include evaluations of:
Skin, coat, and claws
Reflexes
Lymph node enlargement
Orthopedics
Hydration
Weight
Vital signs and cardiopulmonary quality
These tests establish a baseline health status for your pet as he or she ages, allowing our veterinarians and you, the client, to get a better handle on what is best for your pet.

Having your seven-year-old cat or dog evaluated by our veterinarians doesn’t mean the beginning of the end. It means prolonging your pet’s active and healthy life.
