Hi! It’s me, Goose!
I just heard Mom tell Dad a scary story with a happy ending! She said a Good Samaritan found a dog who was wearing a collar, but did not have a name tag. He brought the dog to Mom’s hospital to be scanned for a microchip. Turns out the found pup was microchipped and Mom was able to reunite him with his family who had been searching high and low for him! Like most pets, I was microchipped when I was just a puppy, but it can safely and quickly be implanted at any age. I didn’t feel anything because the microchip is small, like the size of a grain of rice. There’s a special identification number on the microchip which my parents had to register online with their phone and address. But it’s not like a GPS tracker. It cannot tell your exact location. Mom says pets are more likely to be returned to their parents if they are microchipped. What a relief to me because I like to run away from Mom when she calls my name. It’s a fun game we play together! If I ever strayed away from home and someone found me, they could bring me to any veterinary hospital or shelter to be scanned and my parents would be notified because of my microchip. That’s why it’s important for parents to update their info if there’s a change. Thank goodness my brother Knox is microchipped too. I don’t know what I would do without him!
Mom’s calling–Gotta run!
